Sie haben sich trotz schwierigster Bedingungen aus der Donau bis in den Wienerwald vorgek\u00e4mpft. Laut EU-Wasserrahmenrichtlinie m\u00fcssen alle Wehre bis 2025 r\u00fcckgebaut werden, um laichwandernden Fischen den Aufstieg zu erm\u00f6glichen. Da es keine M\u00fchlen, Kraftwerke oder andere Wasserrechte an der Grossen Tulln gibt, ist sie der einzige gr\u00f6\u00dfere Fluss in Nieder\u00f6sterreich, der f\u00fcr Fische frei passierbar w\u00e4re.
